I truly believe that the smallest things, like teaching kids values, make the biggest difference. I think of these words from James:
“When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.
“Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.”
James 3:3-4, NIV
I think this can apply to parenting just as well as it applies to our tongues.
We can direct our children with small nudges. Little moments spent listening can impact them for years. Thoughtful choices can shape their lives. Time spent playing a game or reading aloud can have significant blessings in our relationships and the shaping of their character. At Small Home, Great Learning, I’m encouraging parents to have more of the moments that matter most.
And I think as mothers, one of the things that matters most is enjoying motherhood. There is so much on our minds that it can be hard to find joy. I’m encouraging moms to be present and engaged with their kids in a way that brings joy. It’s all about intention. If we intentionally do what God wants us to do each day, then we will have joy and confidence in our motherhood.

I truly believe that teaching our kids values that will help them focus on becoming the people God intends them to be will have a great impact on their happiness and future. And I’m finding ways to make this simple. Check it all out here.

I promise I’m not nearly this talkative in person. I tend to be a listener, until you get me started on something I’m passionate about.
I’m kinda paranoid about showing my kids’ faces on the internet, and we like our privacy over here, so you won’t see much of my kids.
I LOVE books. Books, books, books.
I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and you’ll hear a lot about Him here. I try to keep this blog fairly nondenominational. That being said, I love hearing about other people’s experiences with Jesus Christ, and I know He reaches out in various ways to bless the people of the earth. However, I’m still a big believer in organized religion, and I’m a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I love talking about it, so feel free to reach out.
